Condition

The watch remains in good vintage condition with honest signs of use accumulated over the years. The stainless steel case retains its original brushed finish with expected light wear. The crystal shows noticeable scratches that are consistent with normal use but do not significantly detract from readability. The original black dial remains well preserved, while the aftermarket leather strap provides a comfortable modern wearing experience. For collectors, the original Seiko bracelet is also included, preserving the watch’s originality.

The Seiko SilverWave collection occupies an important place in Seiko’s history as one of the company’s long-running sports watch families. Originally introduced during the 1960s, the SilverWave name became associated with dependable water-resistant watches designed for everyday active use. By the 1980s, the collection had successfully transitioned into the quartz era while maintaining the practical philosophy that made the original models so popular.

This example is powered by Seiko’s reliable Caliber 8229, a 4-jewel quartz movement. While many people assume quartz watches contain no jewels, Seiko incorporated jeweled bearings into a number of its higher-quality quartz calibers to reduce friction and improve long-term durability. Combined with its bilingual English/Kanji day-date display, luminous hands, and bold Arabic numeral dial, this SilverWave offers excellent everyday legibility while retaining unmistakable vintage character.
