Condition

The watch remains in good vintage condition with honest signs of age. The gold-plated case retains its elegant appearance, while the original textured champagne dial is exceptionally well preserved. The crystal shows light surface scratches that do not significantly affect legibility. A replacement leather strap has been fitted, complementing the watch’s classic vintage styling.

Notes

This vintage Seiko is a wonderful example of the bold yet understated design language that emerged during the early years of the quartz era. Its distinctive hexagonal case offers a refreshing alternative to traditional round dress watches, while the finely textured champagne dial adds subtle depth and character without sacrificing its clean, minimalist aesthetic.

One particularly interesting detail is its 7-jewel quartz movement. While jewels are commonly associated with mechanical watches, Seiko also incorporated jeweled bearings into many of its higher-grade quartz calibers to reduce friction and improve long-term durability. Finding a seven-jewel quartz movement is a reminder that, during the height of the quartz revolution, Seiko approached quartz watchmaking with the same attention to engineering that had earned the brand its reputation in mechanical horology.
