Condition

The watch remains in excellent vintage condition with only light signs of wear consistent with its age. The gold-tone case retains a bright finish, while the original silver dial remains exceptionally clean and well preserved. The crystal offers excellent clarity, and the automatic movement is paired with a tasteful dark brown leather strap that complements the warm gold tones beautifully. Overall, it presents as an elegant and well-preserved example of a classic ladies' Seiko 5.

The Seiko 5 is one of the most successful watch collections ever produced by Seiko. Introduced in the 1960s, the name "Seiko 5" represented five key features that every model was designed to include: an automatic movement, day-date display, water resistance, a recessed crown positioned for protection, and a durable case and bracelet. These practical features helped establish Seiko's reputation for producing reliable mechanical watches that could be worn every day.

This ladies' example showcases how Seiko adapted that same philosophy into a refined dress watch. The clean silver dial, gold Roman numerals, and warm gold-plated case give it an understated elegance, while the bilingual English/French day wheel reflects Seiko's intention to build watches for an international market. The watch is also signed by Suwa Seikosha, one of Seiko's two historic manufacturing divisions responsible for producing many of the company's most respected mechanical movements.
