Condition

The watch remains in honest vintage condition with visible signs of age throughout. The stainless steel case shows normal wear consistent with decades of use, while the original dial retains its attractive vintage character despite light age-related marks. The crystal has noticeable surface scratches that have been reflected in the asking price but do not significantly affect everyday readability.

The watch is fitted with an aftermarket leather strap, and the original stainless steel bracelet is included with the sale.

The movement is running; however, the day-setting function has not been fully verified. The date advances by cycling the hands through 24-hour rotations, which is the normal method for this vintage Seiko movement. Buyers should expect vintage operating characteristics and may wish to have the watch inspected or serviced if they intend to wear it regularly.

Few vintage automatic movements have earned a reputation quite like Seiko’s Caliber 6119. Introduced during the late 1960s, it became one of Seiko’s most successful automatic movements thanks to its robust construction, dependable performance, and ease of servicing. Even today, many examples continue to run reliably after more than fifty years—a testament to Seiko’s engineering during one of the company’s most innovative periods.

This example also features the desirable English and Kanji bilingual day wheel, a characteristic commonly found on watches originally produced for the Japanese domestic market. Collectors often appreciate this small detail, as it reflects the watch’s origins while adding a distinctive charm rarely found on modern timepieces.

Rather than focusing on luxury materials, the Seiko 5 series was built around practical reliability, automatic winding, and everyday usability.
