Condition

The watch remains in very good vintage condition with light signs of age appropriate for its era. The original champagne dial remains clean and attractive, while the gold-plated case retains much of its elegant finish. Light scratches are present on the crystal but do not significantly detract from the overall presentation. The green leather strap complements the warm gold tones nicely and gives the watch a unique character.

Elegant simplicity has long been the hallmark of the Omega De Ville collection, and this ladies’ quartz model showcases that philosophy beautifully. Its softly rounded square case, clean champagne dial, and slim proportions create a timeless dress watch that remains just as wearable today as when it was first produced.

Powering the watch is the Omega Caliber 1350, one of Omega’s early Swiss quartz movements introduced during the industry’s transition into electronic timekeeping. While many manufacturers embraced bold futuristic styling during the Quartz Crisis, Omega chose a more restrained approach—combining modern precision with classic Swiss elegance.

The case is marked “Plaqué Or G 20 Microns,” indicating a substantial 20-micron layer of gold plating over the case exterior. This was considerably thicker than standard fashion-watch plating and reflects Omega’s commitment to producing durable luxury dress watches.

Another interesting engineering feature is the push-button crown adjustment system. Rather than using a traditional pull-out crown, several De Ville quartz models employed an integrated push-button mechanism for setting the time. It is a subtle reminder that Swiss manufacturers were experimenting with new technologies while preserving the refined appearance expected of an Omega.

Fun Fact

One fascinating detail about the De Ville collection is how little its overall design changed despite the massive technological shifts happening inside. During the 1970s and 1980s, Omega transitioned from hand-wound movements to automatics, and eventually to quartz, yet many De Ville models retained nearly identical case shapes and dial layouts.

That means if you placed three nearly identical De Ville watches side by side—one mechanical, one automatic, and one quartz—the only obvious difference might be the text printed on the dial. Omega intentionally designed the collection so owners were buying into timeless elegance rather than the latest fashion trend.

It’s also worth mentioning the green leather strap on this example. While likely a later replacement, it works remarkably well with the warm champagne dial and gold-plated case. Deep green and gold have long been a classic luxury color combination, and the pairing gives the watch a slightly more contemporary look while still respecting its vintage character.
